ZEROBASEONE (제로베이스원)
also known as ZB1, is a 9-member K-pop project group formed by MNET‘s survival show
'BOYS PLANET'.
They are managed by WAKEONE Entertainment and their contract will last for two years and a half. They made their debut on July 10 2023 with the EP
‘YOUTH IN THE SHADE‘.
ZEROBASEONE represents the "journey of the nine trainees to be completed as one after their debut". It refers to the "glorious beginning" of the nine members, starting from zero (0) and ending with one (1), and implies the members' commitment to share with their fans the unfinished journey of their group.
PREDEBUT
On November 28, Mnet officially announced that Boys Planet would premiere in February 2023. The show would feature a total of 98 participants, Korean and global, of which a 9-member project group would be formed.
The show's finale aired on April 20, 2023, revealing the final nine members to debut in the resulting project group, ZEROBASEONE.
DEBUT
The group announced the release of their first mini album, scheduled for the July 10 release. YOUTH IN THE SHADE managed to record over 780,000 pre-sales within five days and surpassing 1.04 million copies, making in the most pre-ordered debut K-pop album in history (and remains the best selling debut album by a K-pop group). ZEROBASEONE made their Korean debut on July 10, which sold over 1.24 million copies only one day after its release, along with the title track
"In Bloom".
2nd Mini Album
On August 20, WakeOne posted a video revealing that Zerobaseone would be releasing their second EP
'Melting Point' in November. On October 26, the album racked up more than 1.7 million orders, while in the first week after its release it was reported to have sold more than 2 million copies; This made them the first K-pop group to achieve this record in the year of their debut. On November 6, they made their comeback with the title track
'Crush'.
